Fitness assessment and personalised coaching

As winter approaches, you may think that now is the time to relax after a hectic cycling or triathlon season. However, the base training you do in the off-season provides the foundation you need to build up to specific events in the spring and summer.

Ben provides personalised coaching services that take into account your level of fitness, what you want to achieve, how much time you can devote to training, how your cycling will fit in with other sports (e.g. triathlon training), and the level of support you desire. By performing periodic fitness assessments, he can help you determine whether you are moving towards your fitness goals.

For more information on these or other possible coaching services, please contact Ben at bikedocben@gmail.com.

"Ben took me from a (slightly) over-weight, (slightly) middle aged, couch potato, to the top of the Ventoux in 6 months.

We first met in January 2009 to work out a programme with the goal of completing the 2009 Etape du Tour I hadn't ridden a road bike for over 10 years and whilst for me it was a case of blissful ignorance, Ben was fully aware of the difficulty of the task I had set myself.

Ben approached the training methodically and with seemingly endless patience and tailored a programme around my work and family commitments.  It was a very inter-active and dynamic process so the programme evolved as my level of fitness improved.

Having successfully completed the 2009 Etape, we continued the  training programme through to successfully completing the 2010 Etape, which is regarded as one of the toughest routes in recent years.

Ben also offered valuable insights on bike equipment and built up the bike I used for the past 2 Etapes.  The only mechanical problem I had was a puncture - and it's probably not fair to hold Ben responsible for the pine needles on the Ventoux!"
